Hiking in Kansas??

04/22/2020

Fun fact: While many people consider Kansas to be nothing but flat plains, it is actually Florida that is the flattest state, and Kansas comes in as only the seventh flattest! (I'm a nerd for random trivia sorry)

I love calling Kansas my home, but sometimes it can be hard to fight the stereotype that Kansas is the most boring state. (Maybe the scenery in the Wizard of Oz plays a role in this?) Well, I'll give my dad credit because last Saturday he proposed the idea of a hike and my first reaction was, um noooo thanks because I've been on enough walks around the neighborhood to last a lifetime.

However, he actually found a really cool area about an hour and a half from Wichita called Kannapolis State Park. There's a bunch of different trails around this small lake, but the scenery was truly beautiful and at times I felt like we were hiking in Sedona, Arizona! There are also some cool caves to explore! Here are some pics to prove it:

Warning: On Saturday, the trails were decently busy, so perhaps a weekday hike would be more quiet or enjoyable? Also, a lot of people brought their dogs which looked fun! Overall, 10/10 recommend finding a pretty hiking trail wherever you live!

Much love and hand sanitizer,
